The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West, along with other Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, has joined forces with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Assocamerestero to combat the diffusion of the Italian Sounding phenomenon and encourage the conscious consumption of authentic Made in Italy products though the True Italian Taste campaign.
Italian Sounding refers to those products that have been made to look and sound like their Italian equivalents despite the fact that these imitations have no connection to Italy.
Through a string of annual True Italian Taste events, IACCW aims to highlight Italy's agri-food products and wines recognised as Protected Designation of Origin and Protected Geographical indication by the European Union.
True Italian Taste activities are aimed at increasing knowledge among consumers as well as consumption in target foreign markets, where Italian Sounding products are mostly found.
Activities will include educational masterclasses, business trips to Italy for food and wine buyers, workshops, seminars and promotional events.

Angelini Osteria (celebrating 20 years) treated guests to an exclusive menu that explores the genesis of Italian regional specialties, as well as authenticated and protected ingredients. Chef Gino Angelini, who continues to lead masterclasses in Italy showcasing Italian gastronomic tradition, explored cuisine from a curious period of Italian culinary history—inspired by the Malatesta family of Rimini dating back to Medieval Times. In a tribute to his home city of Rimini, the culinary maestro transported guests back in time through a menu, complete with wine pairing provided by Vitis Imports, that proposes a mix between the cooking of the 15th century in Emilia-Romagna and the contemporary era. This special dinner featured culinary archaeologist Farrell Monaco.
